Can’t wait to get your hands on more information about the upcoming version 2.0? It just so happens that the dev team has been talked into sharing more concept art with us. But only if you like puzzles. Specifically quizzes. That’s right, the concept art is hidden behind a series of panels, and the players will be given a series of questions on the official forums. It’s up to the players to answer each question, and for every question that’s answered correctly, another panel will be revealed. Already one question has been answered at the time of writing this, but what’s been revealed doesn’t tell us much. (more…)

The FFXIV Dev Team is currently hiring English Localization Team Members for the development of Final Fantasy XIV. More or less a dream job for most players, localization involves the translation of the game content into other languages. With the release of the beta version of FFXIV 2.0 right around the corner, it makes sense that the Dev Team is ramping up their pace in order to get the game’s relaunch out on time. Additional localization team members could be a part of this push.

So for those of you whose only wish was the chance to rub elbows with the saviors of FFXIV, here’s your chance. Of course, the job doesn’t come without requirements:

Requirements

A firm but loving grasp of the English language
Do you wield the centuries-old lexicon like a snake-fearing archaeologist wields a whip? Is your wit as sharp as a Tonberry knife after a few hours on the whetstone? Do your turn-ons include semicolons, gerunds, and Is before Es (except after Cs)?

Calaera is hosting today and as a special surprise Rubicon has returned! He was lured in by the Welcome Back campaign and after doing an episode with us, he’s probably regretting it.

    THE BIG STORY

Patch 1.22a went live last week, adding some additional content, bug fixes, new items, and new recipes. We go over the important bits.

    OTHER NEWS

To Our Players Returning Through The Welcome Back Campaign
For people taking advantage of the Welcome Back Campaign, SE has put together a mini-guide with information about the changes to the game up to this point. It covers configuration menu changes and some “must-have” settings for mouse and keyboard users. There is also a list of links for all of the patch notes since Patch 1.19 so players can check out all the latest changes to the game.

The English Localization Team Wants YOU!
SE is looking to hire individuals for the EN Localization Team. But if you had thoughts about hanging out in your bedroom in your jammies at the computer, socializing with the likes of Bayohne and Rukkiri on a level that no one else has ever seen or even heard of before, then you might want to think again. The job does come with a few requirements.

Orophen is hosting today and we have a special guest! Fusionx from Aetheryte Radio is here and he means business. Well, not really. There weren’t any briefcases or quarterly reports or anything. There was no news, either, this week, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have plenty to talk about.

    PATCH 1.22 – OUR IMPRESSIONS

So we’ve all had a chance to experience a bit of Patch 1.22 right? Last week we promised to go more in depth about what we think about the patch and that’s just what we did this episode. We’ll be talking about our impressions of the newest patch and what we think of the direction of the game thus far.

    RANDOM ROUNDTABLE

Roundtable this week is about elemental spell reform. And don’t get it wrong, this doesn’t have anything to do with what the developers are planning to do next. This is strictly player mandated. But the question is: Did BLM/THM get the shaft when it came to elemental spells? Is the elemental system screwed up to high heaven now? You’ll find out our take on this.

    Results

Garuda, primal of wind and fury of the storm, was bested in battle 7 hours 59 minutes and 44 seconds after her descent to Eorzea by the cunning and valiant adventurers of Durandal!

And so the correct answer to the Predict the Fall of Garuda contest is 7 hours and 59 minutes! Due to the three-hour emergency maintenance that occurred, we are also recognizing 10 hours and 59 minutes as a perfect prediction.
