New FFXIV 2.0 Concept Art and Screenshots Released At E3 Zantetsuken | A FFXIV Fansite

A ton of new media in the form of screenshots and concept art was released by SquareEnix during E3 earlier today, giving players a first glimpse at what they can expect from 2.0 later this year. This comes ahead of any official statements or interviews by the dev team, but it’s a nice treat for many of the fans who were disappointed by the news that the unveiling of the new 2.0 trailer was being pushed back until August of this year.

That’s not to say that we won’t get any news. The dev team is scheduled to do interviews starting tomorrow, and our friends over at GamerEscape are on the scene to get the latest from Yoshida and crew. We’ll try our best to keep you updated as well.

In terms of content in the released images, all of it looks rather impressive, and the game shows off a different look and feel due to the new graphics engine. The new UI depicted in the screenshots is slick and vibrant, and the concept art is detailed and beautiful to look at. There is even concept art of Typhon from FFVI, and if other recent concept art is of any indication, Yoshida isn’t shying away from pulling from older Final Fantasy games. In terms of bringing back that “Final Fantasy feel”, it’s difficult to say that Yoshida and the dev team aren’t succeeding here.

The 2.0 Beta is scheduled to be released to players some time in September/October 2012. You can expect a PS3 release of the game some time in early 2013.

Oh, and while you’re here, take a gander and stare in awe at the new images below.
